Free Tax Assistance February-April

The program, administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS, provides free assistance to all taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those age 60 and older. In order for proper assistance to be given, please bring the following items with you:  the current year's tax form and booklet, (these may be available at the library); a copy of last year's income tax return and supporting documentation; W-2 and W-2p forms from each employer if you earned a salary; unemployment compensation statements; SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits; all 1099 forms showing interest and/or dividends and original purchase price of sold assets; 1099R form from the payer of your pension or annuity; all forms indicating federal income tax paid; child care provider information (name, employer ID S.S. number); all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions; Social Security numbers for all dependents.

Tax forms and publications for the general public are available at the library.  Less common forms are in reproducible format.  Copies are 15 cents per page.  For further information, contact the Bristol Public Library at 889-3651.

The library offers the following services:

• Lamination - 50 cents a foot. Done on Wednesday only.  Materials left at the library before 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday or earlier in the week may be picked up on Thursday.

• Fax - $1.00 for the first page and 50 cents for each additional page sent.  The cost to receive a fax at the library is 50 cents per page.

• Copies & Computer Printing  - 15 cents each page-letter, 20 cents each-legal and 30 cents each-ledger
